Altered Frontal cortex Function in Fmr1 KOs

We are recording multi-unit and local field potentials from Fmr1 KO (knockout) animals to examine changes in prefrontal function during cognition.

How does aging impact frontal function and cognition?

This project will examine if the heterozygous female Fmr1 rat have cognitive decline as they age. Humans that have a premutation (elongated gene sequence, but do not have Fragile X) are at higher risk cognitive issues as they age.
